3 Things

Hello!
I have three things to tell ya! and three prayer requests for you :)

One-on-Ones
The school’s psychologist and I started one-on-ones with the students a few weeks ago. We are meeting with students that the teachers have concerns about. Concerns range from grades, missing school, family support, and/or behavioral changes/issues. We are finishing up the last of the interviews, then moving forward to visiting the families in their homes. Please be praying that God would continue to guide us in wisdom and strength as we work together with the students and their families to offer more support and see that they are thriving both in their relationship with God and in their education.

Youth Group in Santa María
This week I went to youth group in Santa María de Jesús – I am going to continue to volunteer with the youth. This is a great opportunity to invite the middle school students to church. Some of them have expressed that they are nervous to go, because they don’t know anyone or their parents aren’t supportive. We are praying that we could invite them, comforting them with the knowledge that we are there with them and that we are new-comers as well. Please be praying that the youth would come and be equipped through youth group Bible studies to go out and make disciples of others.
We are going to talk to the Pastor about Bible Teachings for younger kids, and if there isn’t already a time set aside for that, we are praying about beginning a Bible Teaching for the kids at the school’s new playground. (A new playground is a great way to get kids to come and learn about God! Am I right?! lol)

End of School Year
The school year ends in a little over 2 months so I’m excited about volunteering at the church, because I will have the opportunity to come into town and do life with the community even while school isn’t in session. Please be praying that the students finish well, and that they would continue to grow spiritually and be encouraged to continue their education after this school year.

Love you!
Thanks for reading a pretty long email!
Vanessa

Jesus prayed, "I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.”
John 17:26

PS, going to youth group in the village at 7:30pm was a bit scary and overwhelming, but I met with a few people at the nearby pila (where everyone does laundry) before heading to the church. I came into town when it was dark and there were soooo many people on the streets.
